It assumed that all open source software licenses are the same, but motivations for open source licensing vary because the license specifically defines what is and what is not allowed or permitted therefore the user should comply with the license or they will are in violation of the license.

Berkeley Software Distribution License-statistically used 3.26%

-The Berkeley Software Distribution is one of the less restrictive licenses that allow a user to obtain OSI certification. -Permits users to use the code under this license as they desire. -The primary requirement is that anyone using the code covered by the license must make reference to the copyright holder in accompanying documentation. -Use of this license increases the possibility that a users work may be included into products that may be proprietary to someone else.
